Craig Ross opens office in Steinbach

Winnipeg accounting firm Craig Ross has opened a Steinbach branch.

“I think it’s always been on my mind and we wanted to get the right sort of mix and the right staffing complement and we finally found that,” said managing partner Jeff Macey, who has a strong foothold in providing advising services to agri-business and agricultural producers.

Craig Ross was founded in Winnipeg by chartered professional accountants John Craig and Hugh Ross in 1998. Macey said his father-in-law, Howard Buffie, started coming to Steinbach about 50 or 60 years ago on a part-time basis and Macey continued that tradition in 1994 and now as a managing partner with Craig Ross has opened a branch in Steinbach.

“The firm itself has just under 60 people. We have a rotation of partners that will be coming out to our Steinbach office and two full-time staff (and we’re) hoping to grow that in the near future,” said Macey.

Macey couldn’t give any tax tips but he did say people should file as soon as they can. He said his firm doesn’t do T1 taxes for the general public like H&R Block does rather it caters to assurance and corporate clients.

Craig Ross provides accounting, tax planning, succession planning, business reorganization, acquisitions, mergers, and financial and accounting advice to clients.

“We also service manufacturing companies here in Steinbach…a large segment of my practice involves buying and selling of businesses and doing deal work and tax restructuring. Tax and succession planning,” said Macey.

“We’re excited to be here. We’ve had a strong presence in the City of Steinbach for many years and we’re really excited about being a permanent and full-time member of the economic community here.”
