We are looking for parents who are searching for preschool for their preschool-aged children. Here are the details:

1. Age Range: Children aged 3 to 5

2. Registration: Now open for the 2024-2025 school year, Sept-June

3. Teachers: Led by Miss Pam (Program Director) and Miss Jamie (Assistant Director)

4. Schedule: Half-day programs, M/W, T/TH Morning or Afternoon options for your child

5. Learning Focus: Sensory learning, Cultural exploration, Art, Music, Dance, Theatre

Take Culture & Heritage workshops at SAC

Join our engaging workshops designed for individuals of all skill levels, where participants will explore various artistic techniques and cultural traditions through hands-on activities. By the end of the workshop, participants will have crafted unique pieces and gained a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance behind each art form.

Beginner Stained Glass Workshop (16+)

Instructor: Leonard and Ann Hordijk

Date: September 21, 2024 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Learn essential techniques like glass cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering to create your own unique, decorative stained-glass pieces. Under expert guidance, design and assemble small-scale projects like sun catchers and ornaments using vibrant colored glass. No prior experience required – all materials provided.

Soapstone Carving Workshop (15+)

Instructor: Fredrick Spence

Date: September 28, 2024 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Originating from the carving traditions of the Inuit and other Arctic peoples, you’ll learn about the history and cultural significance of this timeless craft. Under the guidance of experienced carver, Fredrick Spence, transform the soft, malleable soapstone into unique sculptural works.

Métis Jigging Dance Workshop (8+)

Instructor: Janessa Roy

Date: October 19, 2024 | 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Originating from the Métis people of Canada, Jigging is a lively dance style that combines Indigenous and European influences, featuring intricate footwork and rhythmic stomping. Under the guidance of our experienced Métis instructor, participants will learn the basic steps and techniques of Jigging, as well as the cultural significance and history behind this dynamic dance form.

Filipino “Parol” Christmas Lantern Making (14+)

Instructor: Angelica San Juan

Date: November 30, 2024 | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Explore the Filipino tradition of the Parol in our workshop! Learn its history and cultural importance while crafting your own lantern. Our instructor will guide you through assembling the bamboo frame, decorating with colorful paper, and adding LED lights. Perfect for all levels, create a beautiful Parol to brighten your holiday season or give as a unique gift

Announcing our 45th anniversary concert season

The Steinbach Arts Council is commemorating its 45th anniversary by presenting an impressive lineup of concerts that will captivate audiences in the community. The season includes:

– Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra’s “Swingin’ in Time” performance on Oct. 4, 2024, showcasing the best of big band music from the past century.

– Orontes Guitarists’ “Stories of Refuge” on Nov. 1, 2024, featuring an uplifting blend of classical guitar works.

– Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Tour on Decc 3, 2024, with symphonic classics of the season, a guest narrator, and a performance by Accent Singers.

– The community musical “Fiddler on the Roof” from Feb. 6-9, 2025, featuring local talent.

– The high-energy musical whodunit “Murder for Two” by the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre on March 4, 2025.

Community musical audition registration open now

The Steinbach Arts Council is celebrating their 45th Anniversary year with a very special community musical homecoming! Fiddler on the Roof is an award-winning story of tradition that has touched audiences with its humour, warmth, and universal appeal for decades. Directed by David Klassen, Assistant Director Kristy Penner.
