At Prairie Exotics, guests are allowed to touch the animals, but not the alligator.
Prairie Exotics, located west of Ste Genevieve along Provincial Road 501, is hosting guests any day of the week to interact with exotic animals.
Steve Rempel, owner of Prairie Exotics, keeps various animals on the property, including snakes, birds, fish, geckos, lizards, and a tarantula.
“We bring them out, and teach people about them,” Rempel said, adding guests can touch and hold some animals if they want to
Rempel has had to change his business arrangement due to the pandemic because his show was popular at schools and fairs.
“These guys don’t stop eating,” Rempel said.
He’s had to bring audiences to him in the RM of Taché. Animal viewings include a one-hour slot and a walkthrough Rempel’s facilities. Some animals are kept in his house at the moment, but he expects a facility on the property will be operational in early April.
