The Steinbach Pistons could be playing in their new digs by the end of 2024.
The team announced plans for their first game inside the Southeast Event Centre June 4, which is scheduled for New Year’s Eve against the Niverville Nighthawks.
Just a week later, the entire Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) schedule was released, with Steinbach back-loading their schedule to make full use of their new barn.

Between September and Dec. 30th, the Pistons have only 10 home games, all of which will be in the HyLife Centre in La Broqurie. The remaining 19 games of the team’s home schedule will be in the final three and a half months of the season. Between Jan. 11 and Feb. 22, the team will play 13 home games with only three away dates.
Steinbach’s season opener will be a re-match of last year’s Turnbull Cup final, as the Pistons will be in the building for Winkler’s home opener Sept. 20. The two teams will travel back to the Southeast for Steinbach’s home opener the next day.
Niverville will start their season on Sept. 20 as well, as they host the Winnipeg Freeze at the Niverville Community Resource and Rec Centre.
Each team in the MJHL plays a 58 game season, split evenly between home and away games. The league has retained it’s two-division format, with seven teams playing in the East Division, and six in the West.
