The Providence Pilots are hoping to avenge a pair of losses from last year’s Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) soccer final.

Both the men’s and women’s team for the college will be in action in Winnipeg this week, as the two-day provincial final will be held at the Winnipeg Soccer Federation’s North and South facilities Oct. 24 and 25.

Providence lost to Brandon in the 2023 men’s and women’s final, and are hoping to lock up the school’s first Canadian Colleges Athletic Association nationals berth in soccer.

The women’s division of the MCAC appears on track for a re-match of last year’s final. Both Brandon and Providence are undefeated against the rest of the conference, splitting their three games against each other this season.

Brandon will play fourth place St Boniface in their semi-final, with Providence taking on CMU. The Pilots game will kick off at 12:15 p.m. at the Winnipeg Soccer North Complex on Leila Avenue.

Head coach Tory Walker was named the MCAC coach of the year this year for the third consecutive season.

The final is at the North complex at 1:30 p.m. the next day.

In the men’s division, the finals re-match is taking place a day earlier, as St Boniface finished the year in first place with an undefeated record, only drawing three times while picking up nine victories.

Brandon and Providence finished second and third. Both had five wins, with the Bobcats managing to pick up a couple more draws on the year.
