The NDP have named Brandy Schmidt as their federal election candidate in Provencher.
Schmidt had previously run provincially for the NDP in Fort Whyte in a 2012 byelection to replace former Progressive Conservative leader Hugh McFadyen.
She earned 11.2 percent of the vote and lost to the newly named PC leader Brian Pallister, who would go on to win the next general election and become premier.
Schmidt is running against incumbent Conservative Ted Falk, Liberal Trevor Kirczenow, Green Blair Mahaffy, and People’s Party candidate Noel Gautron.
The election is April 28. Advanced voting starts April 18.
