Two people are dead in what RCMP say was a double homicide at a home on River Road in the RM of Tache.

Police say they were dispatched to a “disturbance call” after someone in the home called 911 at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, police discovered the two victims, an adult male and adult female in the home.

“Both were pronounced deceased at the scene,” RCMP Cpl. Julie Courchaine said.

While at the residence, police say they received a call of a suspicious male. RCMP picked up the male and he remains in custody.

“Officers with our Major Crimes Services section are working at this moment to determine if there’s any connection between the adult male in custody and the victims,” Courchaine said in a Thursday afternoon press conference near the home.

Police have been spending Thursday doing door to door neighbourhood checks to gather information and ensure the wellbeing of residents. “There is no ongoing threat to public safety,” she added.

The press conference included more questions than answers.

Names of the victims and suspect have been withheld as was the manner of the death, the relationship between the victims, and the age of the suspect.
