RCMP investigations can be long affairs, filled with detailed interviews and the collecting of evidence which eventually leads to charges being filed.
What Morris RCMP dealt with on Aug. 12, was not one of those investigations.
Instead, after responding to a report of a stolen truck, trailer and off-road-vehicle at a property on McMillan Avenue in Morris, the suspects came directly to them resulting in 11 charges.
Police say they went to the address and found the pick-up truck and utility trailer but did not initially see the stolen ORV.
“While RCMP was on scene two suspects, driving an ORV, arrived at the property,” they said in a press release.
The ORV was confirmed stolen, and both the male driver and female passenger were arrested.
The driver was found to be in possession of 46 grams of suspected methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.
As a result, Daniel Somerton, 39, of Morris faces three charges of possession of property obtained by crime, two charges of failing to comply and individual charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, operating while prohibited and theft.
A 40-year-old Morris female who was not named by RCMP is facing charges of assault from a previous file and two charges of possession of stolen property.
