Calendar friendly towards holiday hockey this year

With Christmas Day falling on a Wednesday this year, the holiday hockey schedule is jam-packed, with most leagues scheduling games between the 20th and 22nd.
Steinbach and Niverville’s schedule in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League ends on Dec. 20, but both teams will be on the road. Those two teams will kick-off the post-Christmas schedule with a game Dec. 31 in La Broquerie, with the Southeast Event Centre opening is postponed.
In the Hanover-Tache Junior Hockey League, teams will play a full schedule of games in the pre-Christmas weekend in addition to a jam-packed post-Christmas Schedule.
Ste Anne has a pair of home games Dec. 28 and 29, with Landmark, Red River and Macdonald also playing that weekend.
In the South East Manitoba Hockey League Ste Anne will be hosting Ile des Chenes Dec. 22. The Red River Wild will have a home game Dec. 21 when they host Carman in St Jean. The league will pick up their schedule after that in the new year.
Pembina Valley’s final home game in the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League is set for Dec. 20, with the league finishing their 2024 schedule Dec. 22.
In the Capital Region Junior Hockey League, both La Broquerie and St Malo end their years with home games at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21.
Both the male and female AAA leagues end their calendar year Dec. 22, picking up their schedule in the new year. The male and female teams are hosting games this weekend, with the female team in action 2 p.m. Dec. 21 against Brandon in Niverville and the male team battling the Winnipeg Bruins in Beausejour Dec. 22 at 1:30 p.m. The Selects will host Pembina Valley on the 21st.
Even high school teams are able to get into the action, with the Gabrielle-Roy/Pointe des Chenes team hosting Miles Macdonell in Ile des Chenes Dec. 20.
